Four Things That Most People Get Wrong About Dieting

Dieting, whenever I hear this world I feel like it is some kind of fashion statement that’s trending these days. The current generation proudly admits that they have either tried or suggested a diet to someone.

I must admit that some of the fad diets are really effective and are the reason behind your good health and ideal body weight while other diets are no good for your health as they’re just meant to drain the essential nutrients and minerals out of your body.

I have also seen many people who spend thousands of bucks on dieting. Well, honestly, you don’t have to spend that much on dieting. All you have to do is choose wisely.

Here are four biggest misconceptions about dieting

#1 Carbohydrates and fats are not good at all

There is a myth about fats and carbohydrates that they are no good at all. Well, it’s the high time to debunk this myth. Many people think that carbohydrates are only responsible for weight gain. On the other hand, many nutritionists suggest that you don’t have to cut off carbohydrates altogether to lose weight. There are certain healthy carbohydrates that make you lose weight instead of gaining.

Similarly, there are many healthy fats too that play a crucial role in weight loss rather than weight gain. Fat coming from bananas, eggs, and Salmon is good fat and can help you achieve optimal health and ideal weight.

#2 Dieting means starving

I have mentioned it in many of my articles that dieting doesn’t mean NOT EATING; it means EATING IN A HEALTHY WAY. Yes, dieting is a synonym to healthy eating. Dieting doesn’t have to be boring and heard if all the people understand this fact.

So, it’s time to stuff your fridge with a lot of healthy food. My best advice to diet is doing just one simplest thing: Replace your unhealthy favorite food with your healthy favorite food and you’re definitely on the right track.

#3 You can compensate bad diet with exercise

No, you simply cannot. Most of the people have the misconception that if they exercise regularly, they can eat whatever they want and they’ll still lose weight. Here’s is a thing that you need to keep in your mind – You can’t just outdo the bad diet by exercising. It’s not practically possible. Bad diet doesn’t only make you gain weight, but it also makes your body react less to exercising.

So, it’s not a wise choice to eat all the junk even if you exercise regularly.

#4 All calories are same

What do you think – 100 calories of pizza are same as 100 calories of tuna? No, they are not. All the calories are created differently so it’s not the same thing at all. According to AuthorityNutrition, your body processes different calories differently.

Let’s get it straight. Your body will simply take more energy to metabolize calories you have consumed in the form of protein than fat and carbohydrates. That’s why most nutritionists recommend eating more protein rich food when you are trying to lose weight. This gives you a metabolic advantage and eating protein will speed up your metabolism and burn more calories.

So, choose your calories wisely.
